![]() ![]() My daughter inspected the meal and the burger was COLD. ![]() The girl all but threw the box at me and immediately turned away. My daughter went up twice to ask where her food was and was waved off by the same girl who seemed more interested in her social life than assisting other customers (including us)įINALLY, her order was ready and based upon the time stamp on the receipt to delivery, it was 24 minutes. The girl was rather impatient and annoyed and waved me off with a bored, "I don't know." It took over 20 minutes to get this burger. She looked annoyed and told me to go sit down. I took my food to the table and went back and asked. I honestly don't know when she ever turned my order in for the burger! The boy working in the back kitchen had to come up and assist me with getting my meal. She took my 2 entree plate order and rang me up for the bill then went right back to her friend and chatting. She looked back at me surprised I was still there. I stood there in shock, waited yet again for her to finish her chatting. She said they were out of goat and immediately turned back to her friend to finish her conversation! I managed to order the camel burger and asked about the goat. finish her gossip session with her friend. I went to the register to order, waited for the girl to. My daughter instantly decided she wanted to try the camel burger while I opted for the goat. Moreīack in Feb, we were at the Midtown Global and saw the stand in the market. ![]() Along with all of this was a nice banana banana for each plate which you peel and cut up on your entree to give a sweet note, and a gravy boat full of the spicy celantro/garlic puree (nice kick, but not dreadful, use with care if you fear heat). More flavorful i think was a "Fantastic Chicken" with many one inch chunks of white meat in cheesy (Parmesan?) curry sauce, limes and tomatoes for garnish. This was mildly flavored meat on the bone which took a little effort to eat with only a fork and spoon. One plate had a goat stew on the side, some pickled red pepper shavings and raisens for a garnish and tomato slices. Then came the main courses - they were enormous! Each plate was a huge serving of a white and safron yellow long grain rice pilaf with carrot slivers having a lovely aroma, cardamom again. A pot of Somali tea was mostly a sweet milk with some cardamom flavor, enough for about five or six small cups. ![]() Along came a hearty bowl of soup (comes with rice plates), containing chunks of potatoes and a couple of chunks of goat meat in a thick goat broth. A small tub of spicy garlic celantro puree for the samosas. Ordered two meat filled Samosas (about $3), which came with wonderful and generous salad of head lettuce, carrots, peas, beans and raw onions and. We wsked server for his recommendations and went with it. On recommendation of friends, we gave this Somali restaurant a try.
